Hi all - I am just testing out this brand new porter valley forum!! I hope that this will be a better way to discuss stuff that matters to the porter valley group than email chains

Hope it is working ok, there was no 'new topic' button, but i think it was a problem with the permissions.

Please let me know if you have problems of any kind with this post

Hi Heather, the issue was that everyone was getting their inboxes filled up with long discussions about stuff they weren't necessarily interested in. I got quite a number of complaints from people and quite a few people have un-subscribed from the list altogether.

This is a much better way of debating issues online, as each user can decide which threads they are interested in and join in/dip out of the debate as they wish. It just isn't possible to filter the emails from the porter valley list in this way.

Glad you took the plunge! hopefully we'll get a lot more people using and posting on this forum, with the email list becoming more of a notice board than a discussion site.

I'm just testing attachments...

The interface for adding attachments is just below the textarea for the post, Upload attachment and if it works this post should have an image in it...
