Living example of ultra low energy lifestyle

Not sure why the story of Joan Pick has suddenly come into the press after 35 years of a ultra low energy lifestyle but anyway it's an interesting story and shows what can be done...
She also hasn't flown since the 70s and only been in a car a couple of time. She runs about 2 hours a day, more at the weekend.

Her flat in Croydon has no heating, and the only electricity she uses is to power a single low-energy lightbulb and to boil the kettle (she washes her laundry by hand and takes only sponge baths)

A scientist for many years, she has a mind that darts off in different directions and it can be hard to keep track of what she is talking about (perhaps because I am not a member of Mensa).
