The Long Descent

Has anyone got a copy of 'The Long Descent: A Users Guide to the End of Industrial Civilization' by John Michael Greer? Looks really interesting - there are some extracts at: http://www.energybulletin.net/node/46169
He also has a blog at: http://thearchdruidreport.blogspot.com/
I'll probably buy a copy and pass it round if anyone is interested,

I've not read it but I have read some things on his blog and I agree it sounds good.

I find it very hard to find time to read books at the moment but I'd be keen on seeing his presentation from the last Community Solutions conference, the full set of DVD's is $59 + $12 shipping:

Anyone feeling rich...?

John Michael Greer

There is a video and audio interview with him on Global Public Media:

Peak Moment: The Twilight of an Age

In his book, The Long Descent, John Michael Greer observes that our culture has two primary stories: “Infinite Progress” or “Catastrophe”. On the contrary, he sees history as cyclic: civilizations rise and fall. Like others, ours is exhausting its resource base. Cheap energy is over. Decline is here, but the descent will be a long one. It’s too late to maintain the status quo by swapping energy sources. How to deal with this predicament? He lays out practical ideas, possibilities, and potentials, including reconnecting with natural and human capacities pushed aside by industrial life. (www.thearchdruidreport.blogspot.com)

It's a interesting perspective, he might well be right...
